Computing Facilities

The Service
In CUHK libraries, there are more than 500 networked computers with necessary software for library users to access library electronic resources and to navigate the Internet.

Computer Room, Wireless LAN in ULS, ClassNet Connection, Printing facilities and limited copies of popular application software are provided in the libraries.
Computer Room
Library's computer room is located at 7/F TKP Building. More than 70 servers are housed in there to provide the daily library services to the users.

Wireless LAN (CUHK Wi-Fi) in ULS

Wireless LAN (CUHK Wi-Fi) is available in University Library System. It allows a wireless (radio frequency) connection to a local area network. The wireless LAN employs IEEE 802.11a; 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n standards. The wireless LAN operates in 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz frequency bands with Aruba Network’s enhanced roaming features. The roaming features allow notebook computers or mobile devices connected to the wireless LAN to move from one access point to another without losing the connection. And the wireless LAN can support more than 2000 concurrent users. Please visit http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/itsc/network/wlan/index.html for details.

Available SSIDs and Wi-Fi Services

When you search for available wireless networks, a list of SSIDs will be displayed on your mobile devices. CUHK centralized Wi-Fi services provide seven common SSIDs, each representing a unique Wi-Fi service targeting different users:
