Serials and Electronic Resources Department has undergone a challenging and fruitful time over the past decades. Besides managing the print collection (over 14,000 print journals and 91 newspapers), we also maintain the access to over 96,000 electronic journals, 1,100,000 electronic books and 570 databases. These figures evidence the fact that the Library has long been providing digital library collections in addition to the traditional print collection for users. In recent years, we have been actively involved in both external committees such as the Consortial Development Committee (CDC), a Joint University Librarians Advisory Committee (JULAC) working group of all the university libraries in Hong Kong on consortium purchase and subscription, and internal committees such as the Standing Committee on Electronic Resources (SCER). These involvements denote our contribution not only to the Library but also to the library profession at large. We shall continue to strive for excellence in providing world-class print and electronic serials services to the University community, and beyond, in the years ahead. |
