The United College Library was established in 1956 and named after its donor, the late Mr. Wu Chung, as the Wu Chung Library and moved into the present premises on the United College campus in 1972. In 2001, the Library was re-established as the United College Wu Chung Multimedia Library to house the University Library System's primary collection of materials in non-print formats, covering a wide range of subjects. Formats found here include: DVD, LD, VCD, audio CD, videocassette, audiocassette and interactive multimedia materials etc. Facilities are provided for use with these materials, including an Audiovisual Centralised Distributed System and multimedia carrels.

The United College Wu Chung Multimedia Library is intended to facilitate the integration of educational media and technology into the learning process for members of the University. All multimedia materials in the Library are for inhouse use. To facilitate teaching preparation and class presentation, the materials can be borrowed for use on campus.
