Software Requirement

The following software products are recommended for access to electronic resources offered by the University Library System:

To connect to text-based library catalogues or other telnet applications
Chinese /Japanese /Korean system Multi-language support Operating System such as Windows 2000 or XP To read resources containing Chinese, Japanese, or Korean language
PDF viewer Acrobat Reader 8 or higher (Download) To read documents in PDF
RealPage Browser RealPage browser (Download) To connect to a CatchWord server and read the full text in RealPage format
Client software for CDLAN WinFrame Client (Details) To access CDLAN Databases
Audio/Video File Player Real Player To listen to audio / to play video

Remote Access - by dial-up or VPN and others

To access web-based resources subscribed by the University Library System at home:

via CUHK Campus Network ITSC dialup service
via Non-CUHK Campus Network, e.g. your Internet Service Provider (ISP) network VPN or Library Proxy Service or EasyAccess
CUHK Alumni (For DLSA subscribers only) DLSA VPN Conncection Service or Easy Access

Transparent Proxy

Effective from August 15, 2001, CUHK users need NOT configure their web browsers for manual proxy setting. Details are available in http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/itsc/howto/proxy/index.html
