A New Database in EBSCOhost– CINAHL Plus |
 |
 |
Because of change in licence, CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature) will be removed from OvidSP on December 31, 2008. From January 1, 2009 onwards, an expanded version of CINAHL, CINAHL Plus, will be available in a new search interface EBSCOhost.
In addition to the original content of CINAHL, EBSCOhost’s CINAHL Plus also has the following new features:
- Uniquely covers PreCINAHL, which is intended to provide current awareness of new journal articles before they are available in CINAHL with full subject headings. This enables users to gain access to article citations that otherwise would not be available.
- Indexing for 3,802 important journals in nursing and allied health dating back to 1937, which has 870 titles more than that of CINAHL and two-thirds of the total are not included in MEDLINE.
- Searchable cited references for more than 1,270 journals dating back to 1994.
- Full-text materials include nearly 80 journals plus legal cases, clinical innovations, critical paths, drug records, research instruments and clinical trials, 71 of which are not available in other EBSCOhost full text databases.
- Includes Evidence-Based Nursing Quick Lessons and 135 no. of full-text Evidence-based Care Sheets - a two-page portable document format (PDF) summaries of treatment care for many conditions and include a list of references for use at point-of-care.
- Offers access to health care books, 385 nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, 37 standards of practice, educational software, audiovisual and book chapters.
- Provides 360 no. of research instruments and all modules of the Continuing Education Modules.
Two training workshops of the database will be arranged in the coming E-resources Week:
- February 4, 2009 (Wednesday) at 10:30 – 11:15 a.m.
- February 5, 2009 (Thursday) at 3:30 – 4:15 p.m.
Details will be announced later. All are welcome to join.
