How to search CUHK master theses and PhD dissertations

At the Library Catalogue (Full Catalogue Search) http://library.cuhk.edu.hk, select CUHK Theses to search.

  1. To view a list of theses by students of a specific department, conduct a Keyword / Phrase search with the department name contained in author.

    Example: Looking for theses written by students of the Department of Chemistry

    1. Click on Keyword / Phrase
    2. At the search screen, select Author field to search, then input chemistry

  2. To view a list of theses of a degree type, conduct a Title search with the degree type as a search term, e.g., Thesis (M.Phil); Thesis (Ph.D.); Thesis (M.B.A.) etc.

    Example: Looking for Ph. D. theses by CUHK students

    1. Click on Title
    2. At the input pane, type:
        thesis ph d

  3. To locate a thesis written by a specific student, conduct an author search with the name of the student.
    1. Click on Author.
    2. At the input panel, type the name of the student (last name first)

  4. To locate a particular thesis, conduct a title search with the title of the thesis.
    1. Click on Title.
    2. At the input panel, type the exact title or just the first few words of the title of the thesis.

At Library Catalogue 2.0,

  1. At the input pane, enter terms to search.
    When searching the Library Catalogue 2.0 for theses for a particular degree type, enclose the degree type with double quotes to conduct a phrase search with the degree type, e.g., "theses ph d"
  2. At the left of the search result page, click on CUHK Theses under COLLECTION.
