How to view / input Chinese characters at the Library Catalogue
The CUHK Library Catalogue has moved to Unicode (UTF-8) display. CJK characters (Chinese including traditional & simplified characters, Japanese and Korean) can be displayed on the same webpage without the need to switch between different encoding.
- Using PCs in the libraries:
To invoke the CJK characters input modes,
- press Alt + Shift keys simultaneously; OR
- click the EN icon (or CH icon) on the Windows' right-hand bottom.
- Using your own PC:
To view the characters properly, use web browser IE version 5.5 or above, Netscape 6 or above and install Asian fonts.
To input CJK characters in Unicode, if you are using Chinese Windows*, press Alt + Shift simultaneolsy or click on the EN icon on the Window's right-hand bottom to invoke the CJK characters input modes.
For English Windows* users, you must install appropriate Chinese fonts and input software or download the ISO 10646 version of HKSCS font and input software (font and input software included with one download).
