About the University Library System
The University Library System was established in 1963 to serve the then newly founded Chinese University of Hong Kong. It coordinates the collections and services of the University Library (founded 1965) and the branch libraries: Chung Chi College Elisabeth Luce Moore Library (founded 1951), New Asia College Chien Mu Library (founded 1949), United College Wu Chung Multimedia Library (founded 1956), Li Ping Medical Library (founded 1980) at the teaching hospital complex in Shatin, and the Architecture Library (founded 1994) and the Lee Quo Wei Law Library (founded 2004). The administration of the Library System is centralized under the University Librarian.
Mission
- To assist in the preservation, dissemination, communication and increase of knowledge;
- To provide resources and services to support all disciplines of the University's academic programmes, in study and teaching, in research and development, to meet or to exceed the standards required and expected of a university of excellence;
- To support and stimulate intellectual growth and academic development for the institution and beyond.
