Conference Information

Purpose

To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is pleased to co-host with Ohio University the Second International Conference of Institutes and Libraries for Chinese Overseas Studies. It will be held at CUHK during the period of March 13-15, 2003. The purpose of this conference is to provide a forum for institutes, libraries, and individual scholars to share their academic interests, their findings, their concerns, and their need for networking in the field of Chinese Overseas Studies.

 

Theme and Scope

The theme of the Second International Conference of Institutes and Libraries for Chinese Overseas Studies is "Transnational Networks: Challenges in Research and Documentation of the Chinese Overseas". The scope of the conference will include:

  1. Research on the Chinese Overseas: Past, Present and Future
  2. Documentation on the Chinese Overseas
  3. Computer-mediated Communication, Virtual Communities, and Research and Documentation on the Chinese Overseas
  4. Transnational Network and the Chinese Overseas
  5. China and the Chinese Overseas
  6. Others
