Things you need to know about the new LibrarySearch

Date:
17/07/2017 to 31/07/2017

We are glad to present to you LibrarySearch which brings you a whole new experience in discovering information relevant to your studies and research. LibrarySearch combines the previous Library Catalogue and the Easy Search, and provides a one stop searching for accessing and requesting various resources across the eight JULAC libraries. The following are some of the new features that are different from the previous library system.

New discovery platform  -  You can search all of the Library resources (including books, journals, e-resources, exam papers and course reserves materials, etc.) and check your library record.

Mobile responsive  -  It works on your desktop computer, tablets as well as your smartphones.

Modern design  -  Based on user studies and feedback to address different needs of different types of users.

Single password  -  There’s one less password to remember! You can use your CUHK OnePass password or Alumni password as your Library password. Login credentials for different types of library users are as follows.

Seamless  -  The new LibrarySearch fully supports CUHK single sign-on (SSO), you don't have to re-login when you visit other applications that support SSO.

Unified view  -  Glance all checkouts via a single Library account, including the items you borrowed with your JULAC Library Card.

Automatic email receipts  -  Electronic receipts may be sent via emails to help you keep track of your loan and payment activities.

HKALL  -  Additional scope for ‘HKALL’ is available for searching in the interface. Eligible users can request the HKALL items seamlessly.

Renewal  The maximum numbers of renewals have been removed, meaning that, except for items that have been recalled or requested by other library users, you may renew your borrowed items anytime and as many times as possible until you reach the maximum loan period. For more details, please visit: http://www.lib.cuhk.edu.hk/en/use/borrowing/borrow.

Course Reserve   Course Reserve items borrowed overnight would be due exactly at the time when the library opens in the next working day instead of an hour after that.

Self-service borrowing  You may borrow library materials at the self-service borrow machine without the need to input your password.

The Library will continue fine-tuning and enhancing the new system in the coming few months, comments and suggestions are welcome and we are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
