    The Shang dynasty inscribed oracle bones were found at Yinxu, Henan province. Its purpose and function shed significant light on the origin of Chinese culture, disclosing major concerns of the time. Shang oracle-bone script is the earliest known form of systematic Chinese writing which is a crucial source for understanding the development of Chinese characters as well as the history of the Shang dynasty.

    Over the years, the Chinese University of Hong Kong Library has acquired very finely reproduced artworks made by specialists including the Nigensha Publishing Co. Ltd. in Japan and kept in the New Asia College Ch’ien Mu Library. The Collection consists of calligraphy and paintings reproduced from the Tang to the Qing Dynasty. The originals of these artworks are housed in different museums such as National Palace Museum, Taipei, Shanghai Museum, and British Museum. The artwork reproduction requires a high standard of professional and specialized skills. This exhibition showcases the calligraphy and paintings of the Qing Dynasty. All are welcome...

    Artist Statement:
    “Sing’s Experience Hub” by Tse Chun Sing (MFA graduate) is divided into two parts, 3/F at Cheng Ming Building and Ch'ien Mu Library. Sing’s works create displacement in between sound towards our surroundings, that fragments of experience reconnect into a landscape of diverse time course. He examines the notion of listening in his works, which consist of mixture of sounds and materials collected by the artists in several years. Against the instant and rapid world of forgetfulness, he wants to remind the nature of hearing and imagining by his works of prime experience.

    In order to provide a more spacious learning cluster with additional seats and workstations for users on the ground floor, Chung Chi Library (CCL) will start the ground floor refurbishment this summer. The whole ground floor will be closed for building work from May 15 to September 3, 2017 and arrangements during this period are as follows.

    - Temporary CCL Entrance / Exit on Lower Ground Floor (next to CK Tse Room) after the closure of the main door on G/F

    - Circulation services and alumni free parking redemption terminal will be temporarily moved to LG/F. User enquiry service will be available at Circulation counter

    - G/F collections will be relocated to other floors in CCL

    - Reserve Book Room will be temporarily closed

    Chung Chi Library’s Late Reading Room will be closed from May 13 to September 3, 2017 due to the renovation project of the G/F of Chung Chi Library which will begin on May 15. The G/F will be renovated to increase study and workstation space as well as redesign the help desk facilities.

    During the renovation period in summer 2017 (May 15 to September 3, 2017), the whole ground floor of CCL will be closed for building work. The circulation counter and alumni free parking redemption terminal will be temporarily moved to the lower ground floor. The temporary Entrance/Exit to CCL will be on the Lower Ground Floor (next to CK Tse Room) after the closure of the main door on the G/F.
