A large amount of library materials are a good source of company information.


Company Annual Reports of Hong Kong Studies

Annual reports of Hong Kong listed companies, both current and bound volumes can be found in the Hong Kong Studies on the 1/F of the University of Library Annex. They are shelved alphabetically by the name of company.

Users are advised to do an author search in the Library Catalogue.

For example,

  • Author search: Bank of East Asia
  • Select the suitable titles to view: Annual report
  • Check "COVERAGE" and "Latest Received" for detailed information
  • "Location" is UL HKS Company Reports

To check the back issues of these annual reports, users may request at the Reference Counter to use the CD-ROMs:


Annual reports dated before 1996 are available in the format of microfilms. They are stored in the Open Reserve area. Users may enquire further at the Reserve Books and Special Collections Counter.

Hong Kong Government Document

The University has been designated as a depository of the publications on Hong Kong. Hong Kong Government publications are issued by departments and committees of the Hong Kong Government. They provide information on a wide variety of subjects and include monthly, bi-annual and annual reports, statistical analyses, directories, ordinances and pamphlets. The collection is located on the opposite side of Information Commons, 1/F of the University Library.

To find the publication of a particular government department, users can search the Library Catalogue.

Newspaper Clippings

  • Vertical File

The Reference Department maintains a Vertical File which contains more than 15,000 pamphlets and newspaper clippings of Ming Pao and South China Morning Post on over 260 topics of current issues. The Vertical File is located next to the Reference Counter.

    A variety of electronic news databases are available to search articles of local and overseas newspapers.
