![]() The University Library System provides a wide range of academic support facilities and services to users with disabilities. These include:
JAWS provides speech technology that works with Windows operating system to provide access to popular software applications and the Internet. Located in University Library, Chung Chi College Library, New Asia College Library and United College Library.
OPAC terminal with large monitor for visually impaired is located opposite the Reserve Book Counter of University Library.
Wheelchair accessible computer terminals are available in all libraries. Page Turners are available in all libraries for muscular disabilities. Reading AdvantEdge is a software that can read document and image files in different formats (.txt, .doc, .bmp, and .tif). Located in United College Library. This machine synthesizes speech from printed text in English. Located in University Library, Chung Chi College Library, New Asia College Library and United College Library. Available in United College Library, this software enlarges text on the computer screen.
Located near the Reserve Book Counter of University Library, it can magnify text in books, magazines, or on anything that fits on the viewing table.
All libraries are wheelchair accessible. In University Library, Chung Chi College Library and New Asia College Library, a special entry is also arranged for users with mobility disabilities. An intercom is available outside these libraries for users to call for assistance. Library staff at the Circulation Counter will also help users with disabilities to get the book from the stack.
At the new wing of the University Library, wheelchair accessible restrooms are available for those with mobility disabilities.
A wheelchair accessible work table can be found in Chung Chi College Library.
It enlarges text on the computer screen and provides some speech synthesis capabilities. Located in University Library, Chung Chi College Library and New Asia College Library.
Special Library Cards will be arranged for assistants of physically disadvantaged users. On their behalf, their assistants can look up and check out materials in all libraries. Please call the Circulation Department at 2609 7306 for details. Users may enquire at any Circulation Counter for assistance.
