Located on the G/F of the University Library, the Computer Lab is open to all CUHK students, faculty, and staff for their research and academic work.

Policies and Guidelines for Using the Computer Lab

All computers are to be used for educational purposes only. Any unauthorized use will result in dismissed from the Lab. Users are required to respect the following policies and guidelines:

  1. The Lab is open to all library users on a first-come, first-served basis.
  2. Users should not download or install any software onto the computers.
  3. Users should not copy the copyrighted software/products. They should observe the Copyright Ordinance of Hong Kong.
  4. Users should not use the computers to display obscene materials that will offend other users.
  5. Users should not play computer games in the Lab.
  6. Users should not use the computer to create sounds or music that may disturb other users. Headphones are available at the Reserve Books and Special Collections Counter.
  7. Users should observe the ITSC Policies and Guidelines governing the university computer network usage.
  8. Users should bring their own formatted diskette if they want to save any work. Saving information on the hard disk is not allowed.
  9. Users should be responsible for the care and use of the Lab's facilities. They may be liable for the cost of any damage caused by negligence or failure to adhere to proper operating procedures.
  10. Users should work quietly in the Lab. Talking and group discussions are not allowed.
  11. Users should take care of their belongings in the Lab. The Library will not be responsible for any loss or damage to any personal belongings in the Lab.
  12. Users should tidy up their work area when they leave the Lab.
  13. Eating or drinking is strictly prohibited in the Lab.
  14. Mobile phones must be turned off in the Lab.
