Findit@CUHK, links included in Google Scholar search results, directs you from Google Scholar¡¦s citations to library-subscribed content, library catalog and interlibrary loan services.

 

 

When will Findit@CUHK links appear?

 

A Findit@CUHK link appears next to the article title when Library has online subscription access.   This link brings you to view the full-text.  If you are off-campus using your own ISP, you will be required to login with your Library Card Number and Library Password, then be sent to the resource.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If electronic full text is not available, the Findit@CUHK link will display at the bottom of the citation.  This link brings you to CUHK catalog for alternative formats or ILLiad (interlibrary loan service).

 

 

 

Does it require any configuration?

 

No configuration is required for on-campus users or off-campus users using VPN. 

 

 

What databases work with Findit@CUHK links?

 

The databases linked by Findit@CUHK must be library-subscribed and support OpenURL.  Currently, Findit@CUHK links to the following full text databases which include over 10,000 electronic journals.   More electronic resources will be added in the near future.

¡±     Name of faculty staff:

Enter the full name or initials in quotations, e.g. ¡§af cheng¡¨ and ¡§Chinese University¡¨.

  

¡±     Title:

Enter the paper¡¦s title in quotations or use the title operator, e.g. ¡§intitle:tt Virus in the cervices¡¨.    

 

¡±     Subject:

Enter any subject (e.g. physiology or ¡§electronic engineering¡¨) and ¡§Chinese university¡¨.  

 

¡±     Language:

In ¡¥Scholar Preference¡¦ page, select the language(s) in the ¡§Search Language¡¨ section and click on the ¡§Save Preferences¡¨ button.

 

 

 

How to search all CUHK¡¦s research publications?

 

Enter ¡§chinese university¡¨ (case is insensitive) in the search box and start the search. To browse the most recent articles, click on the Recent Articles link from the result page.  After the resorting, limit your search results by yearƒ which appears next to the search box.

 

 

 

 

How to read Google Scholar results?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1.     Title: Links to the abstract of the article, or when available on the web, the complete article.

2.     Group of:  Finds other articles included in this group of scholarly works, possibly preliminary, which you may be able to access. Examples include preprints, abstracts, conference papers or other adaptations.

3.     Cited by: Identifies other papers that have cited articles in the group.

4.     Related Articles: Finds other papers that are similar to articles in this group.

5.     Web search: Searches for information about this work on Google.

6.     Import into RefWorks:  This link, allowing you to import full citation of a result on Google Scholar to the bibliography manager such as RefWorks, RefMan, EndNote, and BibTeX, only appears when you set it on Scholar Preferences page.   Go to Scholar Preferences and select the preferred citation format in the ¡§Bibliography Manager¡¨ section.    You may select RefWorks which is subscribed by CUHK library.

7.     BL Direct: Purchase the full text of the article through the British Library.
