- Due to license restrictions, access to most of the web-based electronic journals
and databases subscribed by the University Library System is limited to computers
in the CUHK campus network. If you are not using the CUHK's Campus Network or
dialup
modem pool or VPN Connection Service, you may use the Library's proxy server service
to access the library subscribed web-based resources.

IMPORTANT - If your network has a firewall to filter access to and from its network or
does not allow you to use proxy servers other than the network's,
you will not be able to use this service. Please use the CUHK's
dialup service instead.
- Do NOT use this service if
(1) you are not accessing licensed library web-based resources; or
(2) you are using a computer in the Campus / connecting to the CUHK Campus Network direct; or
(3) you are using CUHK's dialup service.
- If you are using a shared computer,
(1) always close the browser after using the service;
(2) Internet Explorer users - do not check "save this password into your password list" when authenticating yourself.
Who may use the Library Proxy Service?
- Current CUHK students, faculty, and staff may use the library proxy service by changing the proxy settings of their web browsers. Authentication is required at start and every 30 minutes in order to use this service. Simply input your Library Card Number and Library Password again to continue this service.
Who should use the Library Proxy Service?
- Use the proxy server service if you use a third party Internet Service Provider or non-CUHK network.
Browser Requirement
- Use Netscape 4.0 or above or IE 4.0 or above.
- If your network has a firewall to filter access to and from its network or
does not allow you to use proxy servers other than the network's,
you will not be able to use this service. Please use the CUHK's
dialup service instead.
