Library Proxy Service Setting for Internet Explorer 5.x


A. Dial-up through modem connection
  1. Select Tools
  2. Select Internet Options
  3. Select Connections tab
  4. Under Dial-up settings, click on the icon with the name of your dial-up service to highlight it
  5. Click the [Settings] button
  6. Check the box of Use a proxy server
  7. Click the [Advanced ...] button
  8. For HTTP: and Secure:
    type at Proxy address to use : ra.lib.cuhk.edu.hk
    type at Port : 8080
  9. Click [OK] all the way until the Internet Options menu is closed
  10. Click the [Refresh] button on the Standard Buttons toolbar


B. Local Area Network (LAN) connection (e.g. broadband service)
  1. Select Tools
  2. Select Internet Options
  3. Select Connections tab
  4. Under Local Area Network settings, click the [LAN settings] button
  5. Check the box of Use a proxy server ...
  6. Click the [Advanced ...] button
  7. For HTTP: and Secure:
    type at Proxy address to use : ra.lib.cuhk.edu.hk
    type at Port : 8080
  8. Click [OK] all the way until the Internet Options menu is closed
  9. Click the [Refresh] button on the Standard Buttons toolbar
