If you are using Netscape 4.0+, you may create a profile for this service by:

  1. Close Netscape Navigator
  2. Under Netscape Communicator -> Utilities -> select User Profile Manager
  3. Click the [New] button
  4. Click the [Next] button
  5. Input your name and email address as you like, or simply click the [Next] button to continue
  6. Input a Profile Name e.g. Library Proxy Service
  7. Input the information as you like as you move on until you click the [Finish] button finally
  8. Netscape will be activated
  9. Follow the Proxy Setting instructions to configure your browser and other preferences.
  10. Exit Netscape

The next time you start Netscape, you will be given a choice of profiles.

To access library subscribed database via non-CUHK network, select the "Library Proxy service" profile you set up above. Otherwise, use the other profile(s) with proxy settings of your own network.

With different profiles set up, you need not change the proxy settings back and forth when accessing library subscribed resources or free internet resources. Instead, select the appropriate profile.
