Library Catalogue moved to Unicode (UTF-8) DisplayThe CUHK Library catalogue has moved to Unicode (UTF-8) display which supports better character display. CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean) characters including traditional and simplified Chinese characters can now be displayed on the same webpage without the need to switch between different encoding. Web browser: In order to view the characters properly, you should use web browser IE version 5.5 or above, Netscape 6 or above and install Asian fonts. To input CJK characters in Unicode, if you are using Chinese Windows*, press Alt + Shift or click on the EN icon on the Windows' right-hand bottom to invoke the CJK characters input modes.
For English Windows* users, you must install
appropriate Chinese fonts and input software or download the ISO 10646
version of HKSCS
font and input software (font and input software included with one
download). Telnet: For telnet users, you should use telnet client software compatible with Unicode display. You may purchase telnet software such as AnzioWin or download free telnet client such as PuTTy. The detailed installation guide is available at here. *Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP support Unicode display Aug 23, 2003 |
