The Library Catalogue is a union catalogue of the whole range of library materials of all libraries of the University Library System.
SEARCHING
You may search for library materials by any of the followings:
A> AUTHOR
T> TITLE
W> KEYWORD(S)
S> SUBJECT (Library of Congress Subject Heading)
M> BIOMEDICAL Subject (MeSH)
C> CALL Number
N> Standard NUMBER (ISBN/ISSN/Publisher No.)
Author Search
Type the complete or initial part of the personal names, organisational names
and names of conference. Type the last name of the personal name first.
Title Search
Type the exact title or the first few words of the title. You may search
for the title of any kind of material, including periodicals. Use the
Keyword search option for uncertain title.
Subject Search
Type the exact or the first few words of the Library of Congress Subject
Heading. Use the Keyword search option for uncertain subject heading.
Search the Biomedical Subject as well for topics like psychology and life
sciences.
Biomedical Subject Search
Type the exact or the first few words of the Medical Subject Heading (MeSH).
Use the Keyword search option for uncertain subject heading.
Keyword(s) Search
Type the keyword(s) that may appear in the title, subject and author.
Use AND, OR, NOT to combine keywords.
AND: both terms must be present
OR: either terms must be present
NOT: latter terms are excluded
Use truncation symbol * to include all words begin with the root word
e.g. computer* includes words like computers, computerization.
Call Number Search
To search for audio-visual materials and microforms, choose the L> Local
Call Number. Select C> LC/NLM Call Number for all other materials.
Standard Number Search
Type in the ISBN, ISSN, Publisher Number.
VIEW RECORDS
Type the number of the item you want to see or choose a display option
by typing its letter code.
Display CJK characters enables display of Chinese, Japanese or
Korean characters.
Key NUMBER to see RECENT RECEIPTS shows the checkin information of
recent issues of a periodical.
LIMIT this Search can narrow a search with: language; material type;
periodicals; publisher; where item is located; words in author; words in
title; words in subject; and year of publication.
Mark item for EXPORT selects records to export to disks, printers or
an email recipient. Key the line number(s) of the records to export. To
view, print or export the list of marked records, return to the initial
Library Catalogue menu (by selecting N> NEW Search) and select EXPORT
marked records.
PRINT enables printing of records.
Request ITEM allows placing a particular item on hold.
Show Item Nearby on Shelf enables online browsing of the shelves
around the item being viewed.
SHOW SIMILAR items allows another search of materials of related
subjects, authors and titles.
VIEW YOUR CIRCULATION RECORD
Type your name, your borrower ID number, your password at the prompts. Your password
can be composed of any characters (maximum is 30).
