Company Files
The collection offers information on Hong Kong companies,
both public and private. Primary selection
sources are 4 daily newspapers (Ming Pao, Hsin Pao, SCMP: Business
Post, Hong Kong Economic Time). The newspaper clippings are put in
file by the company names alphabetically for easy access.
Vertical Files
The Collection consists of printed, non-book reference
materials which are housed vertically in file cabinets. The newspaper
clippings are mainly extracted from Ming Pao and SCMP, while leaflets
and pamphlets are mainly from government departments or voluntary agencies.
Index to Chinese Periodicals of Hong Kong
This in-house database indexes more than
30 periodicals published in Hong Kong. It covers the period from June
1989 to present. The citations could be easily retrieved
electronically by simple searches.
The company files and vertical files are maintained by the Reference
Department while the periodical index is created by the
Reference Libarians of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Newspaper Database
This database aims to provide timely access to news about China, Hong
Kong, Taiwan, and Macau through Internet. Major economic, political,
and social news are selected from 6 newspapers starting from June, 1995.
