Enhancing Your Research Impact

Article-level Metrics - Understanding the Significance of Research Papers

This workshop will cover:

  • Where to find article-level metrics
  • The strength and limitations of different citation counts and metrics
  • How to use citation counts and other metrics to assess the relative significance of research papers
  • How to find an author’s h-index
  • What are alternative metrics and how to find them

Using Citation Analysis Tools to Compare Journal Performance

The workshop will introduce how to:

  • Find ranking of journals from Journal Citation Reports on InCites and SCImago for selecting journals for publication
  • Use Match in EndNote to locate appropriate journals for your manuscript
  • Use InCites to compare journal performance

Managing and Archiving Your Research Outputs in AIMS

AIMS is the Academic Information Management System of CUHK for managing and depositing full text of your research outputs. This workshop will demonstrate:

  • Key features of AIMS and its public interface Research Portal
  • Easy ways to enter your research outputs into AIMS
  • Easy ways to deposit the full text of your research outputs in AIMS
  • The right version of full text for depositing and the copyright issues

*For postgraduates who need to input publication records in AIMS
