Statement:
During the Qing Dynasty, Jin Nong from the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou felt disheartened with the upward mobility of painting studies under the chaotic circumstances. He preferred to observe Zheng Fu’s way of practicing clerical model-scripts and inventing lacquer scripts. This joint display will invite Beta Chan, Founding President, and Eric Cheung, Founding Honorary Consultant from “The Chinese Calligraphy & Painting Society of the CUHK Student Union” to serve as the Guests-of-Honour.

Vincent Lee Kwun-leung is a Distinction holder in CE and AL Art who graduated from HKBU Academy of Visual Arts. He obtained a Master of Social Science Degree in Contemporary China Studies at HKBU and a Master of Arts Degree in Fine Arts at CUHK. He has ever organized solo-displays at Cultural Centre, Fringe Club, Chai Wan Youth Square, Purple Bar & Lounge, Rosaryhill School Basement VA Gallery and CUHK New Asia College Ch’ien Mu Library. Now, he operates an independent painting studio at the Unit 1515 of Kwai Shing Industrial Building (Phase 2) in Kwai Hing, namely “Atelier de Belas-Artes do Vincent Lee”. He is also a regular speaker for academic talks at Hong Kong Society of Humanities. Vincent Lee obtained a Champion from the “2006 E-Card Design Competition” organized by HKBU Chaplain’s Office and received the “Outstanding Graduate of Year 2009” from HKBU Office of Student Affairs.

Terence Tsang Wang-fung is a Distinction holder in HKCEE Art. After entering HKBU CVA, his professional concentrations were Design Art and Media Art. During his Year 1 studies, Terence took the compulsory courses including the “Introduction to Chinese Art History” taught by Dr. Daniel Lau Chak-kwong and “Fundamentals of Chinese Painting” taught by Dr. Koon Wai Bong. During his Year 2 and Year 3 studies, he took a great number of courses from School of Communications concerning his Media Art concentration. Moreover, he studied Wucius Wong’s Modern Ink Painting course and Wong Siu Hin’s Advanced Calligraphy course at CUHK Fine Arts based on the transfer-credit module. His Honours Project was design creation indeed. After his graduation from HKBU CVA, Terence completed a Master Degree in Accounting Profession at HKBU and a Master Degree in Property-Development Profession at Polytechnic University whereas he focused on Chinese art practices. He participated in the City Hall joint exhibitions organized by Central & Western District Cultural and Art Association. Terence has ever obtained a “Youth Arts Festival – The Most Outstanding Artists” award. His community-art creation is eternally collected by Sai Ying Pun MTR Station. He was a Champion winner of “Youth Arts Festival Chinese Painting Competition” in 2017 as well.
