    Last semester, three exchange students from Fine Arts Department embarked on their learning journeys in Beijing, China and Leeds, U.K. respectively. This exhibition would present what they have learnt and thought during their exchange programmes through a wide variety of artworks. As exchange students, their lives were oftentimes challenged by cultural and learning differences - while they seek to adapt to foreign cultures and education, they at the same time become more aware of the uniqueness of their own cultural roots.     Workshop 1: 3D Printing, Scanning and Blender 3D Modeling Technique

    Introduce the basic techniques of creating 3D models with 3D printing using a free and open source 3D creation software – Blender. Participants may have a chance to build their own figurines by using the Structure Sensor 3D scanner.

    Few of us have come to think that they connect us with the past. But they do.

    They tell us what the ancient jade and stone craftsmen found in the natural world. We very much learnt from what they found.

    We tell a short story of their findings in this exhibition, through which we hope to honour our craftsmen.

    The Shang dynasty inscribed oracle bones were found at Yinxu, Henan province. Its purpose and function shed significant light on the origin of Chinese culture, disclosing major concerns of the time.     Over the years, the Chinese University of Hong Kong Library has acquired very finely reproduced artworks made by specialists including the Nigensha Publishing Co. Ltd. in Japan and kept in the New Asia College Ch’ien Mu Library. The Collection consists of calligraphy and paintings reproduced from the Tang to the Qing Dynasty. The originals of these artworks are housed in different museums such as National Palace Museum, Taipei, Shanghai Museum, and British Museum.
