    Look at your jades and semi-precious stone accessories. They are simple, natural, and traditional.

    Few of us have come to think that they connect us with the past. But they do.

    They tell us what the ancient jade and stone craftsmen found in the natural world. We very much learnt from what they found.

    We tell a short story of their findings in this exhibition, through which we hope to honour our craftsmen.

    To provide a better study space overnight, the Late Reading Room of the New Asia College Ch’ien Mu Library has been refurbished in this summer. The improvement work includes repainting the roof and walls, and resurfacing the floor. The Late Reading Room is now ready to welcome our users in the semester of 2017-18.

    The Shang dynasty inscribed oracle bones were found at Yinxu, Henan province. Its purpose and function shed significant light on the origin of Chinese culture, disclosing major concerns of the time. Shang oracle-bone script is the earliest known form of systematic Chinese writing which is a crucial source for understanding the development of Chinese characters as well as the history of the Shang dynasty.

    We are glad to present to you LibrarySearch which brings you a whole new experience in discovering information relevant to your studies and research.     Over the years, the Chinese University of Hong Kong Library has acquired very finely reproduced artworks made by specialists including the Nigensha Publishing Co. Ltd. in Japan and kept in the New Asia College Ch’ien Mu Library. The Collection consists of calligraphy and paintings reproduced from the Tang to the Qing Dynasty. The originals of these artworks are housed in different museums such as National Palace Museum, Taipei, Shanghai Museum, and British Museum.     Artist Statement:
    “Sing’s Experience Hub” by Tse Chun Sing (MFA graduate) is divided into two parts, 3/F at Cheng Ming Building and Ch'ien Mu Library. Sing’s works create displacement in between sound towards our surroundings, that fragments of experience reconnect into a landscape of diverse time course. He examines the notion of listening in his works, which consist of mixture of sounds and materials collected by the artists in several years. Against the instant and rapid world of forgetfulness, he wants to remind the nature of hearing and imagining by his works of prime experience.

    In appreciation of the generous donation from Dr. Pak Suet Sin and the Yam Pak Charitable Foundation, and to celebrate Dr. Pak’s 90th birthday, the Chinese University of Hong Kong Library will present the exhibition “Unveiling the Splendor of the Flower Princess : An Exhibition from CUHK Library’s Yam Pak Collection in Honour of Dr. Pak Suet Sin’s 90 Years” from March 27 to July 31, 2017. The exhibition will be open to the public starting 14 May.

    The exhibition will showcase the Library’s invaluable collection of the Sin Fung Ming Troupe’s libretti, stage stills and other photos, among which the Troupe’s clay-print libretti are the most valuable treasures. The clay-print libretti were usually produced in no more than a dozen copies and were accessible only to principal...

    Sculpture Exhibition Program
    This Sculpture Exhibition Program is a visual art collaboration event between the New Asia College Ch’ien Mu Library and the Hong Kong Sculpture Society. The Ch’ien Mu Library has always supported art and culture with all their strength. Not only displaying artworks of different media, but its art space also lets students of the Fine Art Department to show their brainchild to the public.
