Letter of Introduction for Visiting Other Academic Libraries
Eligible CUHK library users may apply for a Letter of Introduction from the CUHK Library when seeking temporary access to external academic libraries for research purposes. This document is provided at the Library’s discretion to confirm your current library user status, and may be submitted as supporting documentation if required by the host library.
Eligibility
This service is available to CUHK faculty, teaching and research staff, and postgraduate students only.
How to Apply
Please email the following information to library@cuhk.edu.hk at least five working days prior to your planned visit:
- Your Personal Details: Full name, Staff ID, and Department, etc.;
- Host Library Details: Name of the host library, and any collection(s) you intend to use;
- Intended Visit Dates: The exact dates or period of your visit;
- Research Material Details: Full bibliographic details of the specific materials you wish to consult at the host library.

- Access Discretion: The issuance of this letter does not guarantee entry or borrowing privileges. Host libraries reserve full rights to determine visitor access and enforce their own institutional policies.
- Personal Use Only: The letter is strictly non-transferable and must only be used by the designated applicant for consultation in support of research or private study.
- User Conduct & Liability: Users must comply with the rules and regulations of the host library at all times. The user assumes full individual responsibility for any loss of, or damage to, the host library’s property.
